Founded in Calgary, AB in 2020, Prisoner’s music is rooted in classic/hard rock, heavy metal, and blues. Influenced by all styles of rock and metal, their classic roots combine with a modern style to create a congruent take on modern rock music.
Through the talents of frontman Murray Emery, guitarist Jeremy Hartmann, bassist Trevor Macdonald, and drummer Karl Pflug, Prisoner will deliver audiences the ultimate hard rock experience.

Murray Emery - guitar/vocals
Founder of Prisoner in 2020, Murray has a passion and love for all things music that emanates from every performance he gives. With years of professional vocal training and nearly a decade on the guitar, Murray brings an infectious energy to Prisoner, making every moment memorable.
Trevor Macdonald - Bass
Trevor has been playing the bass guitar since he was 11 years old. His inspiration was birthed from witnessing the incredible basslines of Primus, Rush & Queen. At 15, Trevor picked up a six-string Ibanez Sound-Gear bass and hasn’t put it down since in his last 7 years pursuing all things rock & metal.
Karl Pflug
Karl has been playing drums since the age of 9. After being taught privately for 10 years, he is now pursuing a Bachelor’s in Jazz Drumming at Ambrose University. Between his studies, his plethora of skills enable him to play all genres and styles, from heavy metal to light jazz.
Jeremy Hartmann
Jeremy has been playing guitar for around 7 years. Guitar was the main contributing factor in his musical journey, guiding him from early heavy metal to the modern guitar scene. His influences range from bands including Monuments, Testament, Archspire and Intervals.
